PhD Student in Linguistics
2023

Abstract

On this website, you will learn more about me and find things such as my CV, my publications, information on how to contact me, and useful links.

1   About me

I am a Graduate Assistant / PhD Student in linguistics at the University of Lausanne. I hold a Bachelor in History and Linguistics from the University of Lausanne as well as a Master of Languages in General Linguistics from the University of Uppsala. I have previously been a Research Assistant in history on the INIDUN project. The complete corpus we curated has been published on Zenodo. I have a previous background in IT and communication, during which I worked at EPFL.
My hobbies include genealogy, horse riding, boardgames and TV shows. Special mention for Nathan Fielder's projects

2   Research

During my education, I became fascinated by nasal Vowels and especially their acquisition. In my master's thesis, I studied whether German native speakers can acquire the acoustical correlates of French nasal vowels, and perceive the difference between them. To trick your non-French speaking friends... /lasasɛ̃syɾsõsɛ̃sysesõsɑ̃sɑ̃sɛsə/ While my PhD project is still in the early stages, I am going to focus once again on French nasal vowels. I have developed WhispGrid to help me in this task, a Whisper based recognition script to automatize Corpus transcription and speaker recognition.
